Natural is Beautiful!

There is nothing hotter or sexier than unadulterated, natural individuality. The trick is not to overdo it, says Christine.

Here’s something that may come as a surprise: natural is classy. In an age when cosmetic companies are racing to develop the next great (and inevitably expensive) botox-free skin cleanser with promises of ageless ‘beauty’, the truth about truly being beautiful is unfortunately concealed. Real beauty begins and ends with individuality. Don’t alter your appearance with makeup and clothes that don’t genuinely reflect who you are. As a designer, I always strive to create collections that not only interject my own creative inspirations, but also (and more importantly) fit my clientele’s persona. Don’t buy into the ‘Plain Jane’ stereotype: there is nothing hotter or sexier than unadulterated individuality, and the good news is that here are ways to look beautiful without obsessing about it.

Makeup - Accentuate your natural features and don't over do it:

1) Lightly dust dual foundation over your face- this will eliminate shine and even out your skin tone. You can even use tinted moisturizers as a substitute.

2) Your eyes are the window to your soul- use neutral eye colors on lids and keep brows groomed.

3) A nude or light plum shade will make emphasize your lips with a splash of sheer gloss.

4) Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Light plum colors will give you a nice glow.

Remember- don't be overly dramatic - keep it clean, light and natural.

Don't be a slave to fashion...nothing beats personal style:

1) Stay away from overly tight and/or see-through garments. Confidence is bred from being comfortable with what you are. Know your body and know what looks good.

2) Don't be afraid to experiment but choose colors that compliment your skin tone.

3) Don't bare all and avoid large, overpowering prints.

4) Do accessorize as it suits your outfit(s).

As an aside, these are general guidelines and not steadfast rules of fashion simplicity; in other words, don’t be afraid to bend or even break (in some instances!) these suggestions if it means incorporating your own distinctive style. The biggest mistake one can make is to try and conform to someone else’s style—they won’t feel comfortable and trust me, it will show. If you’re true to yourself, you’ll emanate confidence—and, of course, be beautiful!
