H&Y Marketplace To Open At Duluth International Village

BY VEENA RAO

Bottom L to R: Chong Oh, executive director, H&Y Marketplace, John Kim, CEO of Team Spirit Realty and Ron Onorato, CEO of North Point Group.

North Point Group’s Point Berkeley International Village in Duluth will soon house the Han Yang Mart and H&Y Marketplace, an upscale 90,000 sq. ft. mega store in its premises. Announcing this at a press conference at the North Point Group’s Shiloh Road offices, NY based Chong Oh, executive director of H&Y Marketplace, Ron Onorato, CEO of North Point Group and John Kim, CEO of Team Spirit Realty, said they were confident of succeeding in Atlanta because of the city’s diverse, multi-cultural ethos, and because it is the hub for all of south east USA.

The market, which is slated to open doors to the public this fall, will include fresh produce, fish, meat and grocery departments. The market will also house a sit down bakery, a full service pharmacy, a full service bank, seven restaurants and a food court. A second level area will house the H&Y International Mall. This mall will comprise of over 50 merchants selling unique good and services from around the world.

HanYang Market which opened its first store in Flushing, NY has over 20 years of experience in the field, and has, through trial and error, been successful in competing with the H Mart, said Oh. The marketplace has a green, organic concept and promises to stimulate the growth of the multi-cultural communities in Atlanta. The market will have 120 employees from all ethnic communities and 30 sub tenants. “A portion of our profits will be given back to society,” said Oh.

John Kim said H&Y which stands for Han Yang, also stands for Health and Youth in keeping with the store’s concept of “Live young and healthy”. The store will carry known brand names that carry a seal of quality.

“Atlanta is amongst the fastest growing multi-cultural cities, and the North Point Group wanted to be part of this growth,” said Ron Onorato.

A press release issued by the North Point Group earlier in the week said the group has been working diligently to find just the right grocery store operator to replace Amart after they fell out of the picture. After meeting with and interviewing several possible companies, it was decided that with Han Yang’s reputation and years of experience they represent the right choice for the community and the center.

Shoppers looking for an international experience, remember to head to H&Y Marketplace this fall!
