SEWA Atlanta & ISKCON Join In Lordstrom Children’s Holiday Celebrations

SEWA International with ISCKON Atlanta joined the Lordstrom Children’s Holiday Celebration at the First Baptist Church of East Point in East Point, Georgia.
on December 4th .
This program in East Point is organized by Lordstrom in partnership with Zion Hill Community Development Corporation. Rev. Melanie Conner is the main coordinator and she was very excited to have members of the Hindu community participating this year. They have celebrated this event for the past seven years. SEWA Atlanta chapter coordinator Rakesh Pathak with other volunteers represented SEWA International in the program.

SEWA International in joint effort with ISKCON Atlanta was able to distribute over 480 bags each with five pieces of fruit and some candy canes.

”One of the amazing things about this event was the level of interest in the Hindu culture that was expressed by many of the people at the event,” said the press note released to this paper. “We had several people who received japa (chanting) beads and numerous books on Vedic philosophy including Bhagavad Gita from ISKCON. This is truly a blessing for the people in general and a clear indication that the time is ripe for sharing our wonderful culture and religion with a broader audience here in the Atlanta area.”
“ISKCON Atlanta expressed interest that we can join forces for future events where we can showcase our culture and traditions in various formats. SEWA International is planning to discuss with other Community service organization to get together and discuss ideas for such activities,” added the note.
