Swami B.S.Tirtha Maharaj visits Atlanta

His Divine Grace Swami B.S. Tirtha Maharaj, Founder Acharya of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Association (GVA) was in Atlanta between May 3rd and May 13th. During the eleven days of his stay, Shrila Maharaj delivered discourses on Shrimad Bhagavatam, the cream of all Vedic literatures and Shri Isopanishad every evening in the Cumming area.

Shrila Maharaj spoke about Emperor Parikshit, a great devotee of Lord Shri Krishna, who ruled the entire world, and how after being cursed he was delivered by Shrila Sukadeva Goswami. Shrila Maharaj spoke on Shri Isopanishad, which is part of the Yajur veda, wherein he emphasized the fact that the Lord has a sat-cit-ananda form.

The Personality of Godhead is perfect and complete, and because He is completely perfect, all emanations from Him, such as this phenomenal world, are perfectly equipped as complete wholes. Whatever is produced of the Complete Whole is also complete in itself. Because He is the Complete Whole, even though so many complete units emanate from Him, He remains the complete balance.

May 5th turned out to be an extraordinary day. Being Narasimha Caturdasi, the appearance day of Lord Shri Narasimha deva, The Hanuman Mandir in Alpharetta had specially invited Shrila Maharaj for enlightening the public visiting the temple on the Prayers of Shri Prahlad Maharaj. The temple priest Shriman Narayanan received Shrila Maharaj with great respect and traditional rituals (poorna kumba) and honored him with garlands.

Shrila Maharaj spoke the prayers sung by Shri Prahlad Maharaj to Lord Narasimha deva after killing Hiranyakasipu and stressed upon the fact that by devotional service alone one can satisfy the Supreme Lord.

A large number of people who heard the discourse on this very auspicious day were greatly benefited. The honorable Mayor's office of Johns Creek had invited Shrila Maharaj on the 8th of May. The Mayor Michael E. Bodker warmly received Shrila Maharaj to his office and discussed about the organization and its preaching activities. Bodker mentioned that GVA has been a part of the Johns creek family for many years.

Under the spiritual guidance of Shrila Maharaj, GVA members conduct Lord Jagannath ratha yatra every year at the Johns creek founders day parade. The Mayor honored Shrila Maharaj with gold medallions of City hall.

Shrila Maharaj gave his blessings to the Mayor and presented garlands from Vrindavan along with Indian sweets. The dignitaries at the Mayor's office were thrilled and excited to associate with Shrila Maharaj.

Prior to Atlanta, Shrila Maharaj visited places in Texas, Arizona, New Jersey and Connecticut to deliver a series of lectures on Bhakti Yoga the top most yoga as stated in the Shrimad Bhagavat Gita. Shrila Maharaj is the foremost preacher of Krishna Consciousness (that is, Bhakti yoga), who travels extensively with the sole purpose of spreading Love of God to all fallen souls. And for the last two decades Shrila Maharaj has been speaking Hari katha.

Shrila Maharaj hails from Tamil Nadu in South-India. From the early childhood, he was introduced to fundamental spiritual concepts and received a trained exposure to various theological expositions of contemporary schools of thoughts as he gradually grew up. He became familiar with the concepts of monist philosophers like Shripad Shankaracharya, Ramkrishna, Vivekananda, Chinmayananda as well as Dr. Radhakrishnan and J. Krishnamurthy. He is well versed in several languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Sanskrit and Bengali. GVA distributes various lectures given by Srila Maharaj in audio/video media and hosts a weekly Srimad Bhagavatam Class in New Jersey, Texas & Georgia.
