Breaking The Language Barrier
Small Town Lad Develops Web Browser In Hindi

NRIPULSE NEWS DESK

With an indomitable will to break language barriers to technology, Jagdeep Dangi, a computer-engineering graduate from Vidisha, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, India has developed a fully functional web browser in Hindi.

The browser has all the functionalities of Internet Explorer in Hindi (Devanagari). It also has extra functions such as opening multiple files, saving files, a search bar, slides and auto history viewers.

The package includes four softwares, says Dangi in an email to NRIPulse.com. Apart from the Hindi Explorer, it has a global word translator, a Hindi to English and vice-versa dictionary and a saral editor. The word translator instantly translates and offers the correct pronunciation of any word, online or offline, at a click. The translator is compatible with all Windows applications online or offline

The Hindi browser can run on all Windows operating systems (95, 98, 2000 to ME, NT and Windows XP).

It took 26-year old Dangi three years to develop the software package. Being a victim of the language barrier himself, having studied in an Hindi medium school, Dangi felt the blocks acutely while pursuing his degree in Engineering. This gave him the drive to pursue his dream of breaking language barriers, and to bring technology to the doorstep of those who do not understand English.

"As a computer user, I wanted to offer something to the masses to increase PC penetration in rural areas," he said in an interview to the ‘Pioneer’.

Son of a farmer, Dangi, whose physical movements are restricted from a handicap of the lower limbs, now dreams of developing an entire operating system in Hindi!
