New York, May 23 (IANS) Three
youths have been arrested for the murder of two Indian doctoral students
last December at the Louisiana State University campus.
Michael Jermaine Lewis, 19, and Casey Gathers, 20, were arrested
Thursday for the killing of Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar
Allam, who were found shot in the head in what the police called a home
invasion of Allam's apartment December 13. Komma was bound with a
computer cable and Allam was found near the door.
The third man, Devin Jamell Parker, 19, was arrested Wednesday for an
unrelated robbery, but has been booked for the murder of the two
students from Andhra Pradesh.
All the three men, African-Americans hailing from Baton Rouge, will be
charged with two counts of first degree murder.
Komma, 31, was a biology student from Kurnool, and Allam, 33, was a
chemistry student from Hyderabad.
A multi-agency task force was formed to solve the double murder and the
police had released sketches of the two men seen in the area of the
crime.
The police were gathering more information and interviewing the
suspects.
