Macon homicide victim identified as 21-year-old Neil Patel

Atlanta, GA, January 5, 2018: The victim of a homicide whose body was found Thursday, December 21, 2017 near the wooded area of the Bloomfield Park has been identified as 21-year-old Neil Patel of Macon, according to information released by Bibb’s County Sheriff’s office.

Patel was reported missing on December 19, 2017. Next of kin was located and notified of Patel’s death. The investigation of the homicide of Patel is on-going. No further information was released.

Patel’s identity remained a mystery for days while authorities interviewed families of similar-looking people who’ve been reported missing. His family in New Jersey got word of the killing over the Christmas holiday, reported Macon.com.

Patel, his hair dyed red, was wearing black shorts, a blue shirt and black Converse sneakers when he was shot to death, the report said.

Neighbors in the area told a reporter they heard several gunshots a couple of nights before Patel’s body was found.
