Pranay Udutha on “40 under 40” list of AAPI Professionals in Politics and Public Affairs

Atlanta, GA, December 6, 2018: Pranay K. Udutha, a Policy Advisor to the Senior Counselor to President Trump, was recently recognized on the 2018 “40 Under 40” List by The National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs (NAAPPPA).

The honorees on the “40 Under 40” List are elite individuals, who are breaking the Asian model minority stereotype by excelling in the rough and tumble, rule-bending, bare knuckle world of American politics.

A Presidential appointee, he currently focuses on policies targeted towards investing in American workers, tackling the crisis of addiction, and investing in America’s underserved neighborhoods.

Pranay most recently served for a year as policy staffer to the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Earlier, he spent 3 years with Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., and served on his Senate Finance Committee staff in 2017. He worked previously at the U.S. House of Representatives and American Enterprise Institute. Within health and finance policy, he focused on drug pricing, health care costs and reform, and the finance of innovation.

His professional experience began in research spanning three continents, in regenerative medicine and pharmaceutical science. In 2017, Pranay was named a Spotlight Health Scholar at the Aspen Ideas Festival, which is a program of the Aspen Institute, and the nation’s premier, public gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across many disciplines to present and discuss the ideas and issues that both shape our lives and challenge our times.

Pranay is the son of longtime metro Atlanta residents – Shiv Kumar and Sridevi Udutha. Originally from Ruston,Louisiana, he spent most of his life in Georgia.

He graduated summa cum laude with degrees in International Affairs and Biology from the University of Georgia(Go Dawgs!), where he was a Bernard Ramsey Honors Scholar. He completed Master of Public Health from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University, where he was named a Dean’s Scholar.
