Rajasthan Association of Georgia (RAJA) celebrates Gangaur

Atlanta, GA, May 7, 2017: Rajasthan Association of Georgia (RAJA) celebrated its annual festival Gangaur with great pomp and show at The Atlanta Events Hall on April 1. The event was attended by more than 100 people including people visiting from Canada and India.

Gangaur is one of the most important festivals celebrated in Rajasthan.  Gangaur means “Gana”+”Gauri”. Gana is a synonym for Lord Shiva and Gaur stands for Gauri or Parvati who symbolizes Saubhagya.

This year Gangaur festival was celebrated with traditional Rajasthani folk songs with colorful outfits. There was cultural performance by women and kids in traditional wear. People were mesmerized by the conversation between the MCs of the event Ranjana Rathi and Payal Agarwal.

“Thanks for inviting us for the event. We have not experienced such a great Indian cultural performance in Atlanta” one of the guests commented.

The event was attended by prominent members from community including Consul D.V. Singh from Indian Consulate,Atlanta.

Kaleen Rugs, Duggar Family, Farmers Insurance, Shure Auto, Global Travels supported the event by providing sponsorship for RAJA Gangaur celebration.

RAJA has taken the initiative in organizing community services and engaging school kids in various activities. A food drive was organized by RAJA to help homeless people on Gangaur. Kids were awarded with certificates for their volunteering efforts with whose efforts RAJA was able to collect around $300 during their food drive to help needy people.

RAJA’s President Sudhir Agarwal and Vice President Anand Rathi provided details on the achievements of RAJA and the upcoming events for the year 2017.

RAJA is organizing a Health Fair on April 15 and 22 where 12 specialists are expected to come and offer voluntary services.

RAJA Annual Picnic has been finalized for July 30 atPinckneyvillePark from 10 am to 4 pm.

The annual Diwali Milan will be on Nov 4 at Ashiana Restaurant.

The Chairman of the Board, Aashu Rahar appreciated the contributions by the executive team, sponsors and volunteers to make the event successful.
