Atlanta, GA: Dr. Narayanan Komerath, a Metro Atlanta resident since 1978 and Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, received the 2013 Bharat Gaurav Award from the India International Friendship Society in New Delhi on January 12. The award was presented by Balmiki Prasad Singh, the Governor of the State of Sikkim.
The citation reads, “In recognition of contribution and dedication to worthy causes and your achievements in keeping the flag of India flying high”.

Dr. Komerath’s students are known for their research in experimental aerodynamics and advanced concept development in the aerospace and micro renewable energy fields, with over 300 technical publications.
According to Dr Komerath’s wife Padma, much of her husband’s spare time since 1998 has been occupied in quietly advancing Indo-American friendship and improving understanding of Indian history and culture. He takes special pride in a project initiated after the Kargil invasion of 1999. This has helped establish and support schools and hostels for children of those lost in protecting the security and integrity of India, especially in Jammu-Kashmir and Northeast India.
