Hotelier Vikram Chatwal Arrested For Drug Possession in Florida

Atlanta, GA: Indian American hotelier, Vikram Chatwal, has been arrested in Florida after cops say he tried to get on a plane with cocaine, weed, heroin and various prescription pills, reports TMZ.com. The 41-year-old mulch-millionaire was reportedly busted on April 2 at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport when the TSA discovered an arsenal of drugs hidden on his person, in his crotch and in his bag.

Chatwal was booked on one count of trafficking (6 grams of heroin) and seven counts of possession including cocaine, buprenorphine (an opioid), clonazepam (a sedative), alprazolam (Xanax) and lorazepam (muscle relaxants), ketamine (a horse tranquilizer) and weed, says TMZ.com. Chatwal admitted to cops that he illegally purchased and possessed the drugs, according to the report.

Son of Indian-American Businessman Sant Singh Chatwal and founder of the exclusive hotel dynasty “Vikram Chatwal Hotels”, Vikram Chatwal is a wealthy Manhattan socialite. Chatwal is also known for dating models and has acted in Bollywood movies.

He married Indian model Priya Sachdev in 2006. The multimillion dollar wedding celebrations took place in February 2006 was spread across ten days and three Indian cities, Mumbai to Udaipur and Delhi, and was attended by 600 guests from 26 countries who were transported on private chartered jets, according to a wikipedia article on Chatwal. Guests attending the wedding included steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, model Naomi Campbell, Patricia Velásquez, rapper P Diddy, HRH Prince Nikolaos of Greece, Bill Clinton and several Indian celebrities. The marriage, however, did not last long.
