Informative seminar on taxes and financial planning by TAMA

Atlanta, GA, March 4, 2020: Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) organized a seminar on Tax Filing and Financial Planning, on February 22nd at Desana Middle School, Alpharetta, GA. Over 90 Atlantans attended this useful and informative seminar.

The event commenced with an opening note from TAMA Media Secretary Hitesh Vadlamudi. He spoke about the essence and need of this seminar, especially during this tax filing period. He elaborated on various activities and seminars that TAMA regularly conducts, for the benefit of the community. 

Vadlamudi invited the featured presenter of the day, Hariprasad Salian, a seasoned financial and tax professional with more than 15 years’ experience. He is also Head of the nation-wide franchise, My Tax Filer.

Salian started with the broad services provided by My Tax Filer, followed by 2019 tax changes. This 90-minute interactive discussion included taxes and related laws changes in 2020, tax timelines and various possible tax deductions. Some other salient features covered are, Federal and State Return, Investments and Rental Property Return, Self-employed and Sole Proprietorship Return, FBAR, FATCA, Business Tax & Services, S-Corp and C-Corp Returns, Bookkeeping, Payroll and Audit. 

Simple Tax saving tips and FAQs were the highlights of the day. Salian also elucidated certain intricacies related to Tax Credits, Tax Rate Table and exemptions. How taxes work for visiting parents, kids, legal residents including citizens, green card, visa holders and students are some of the points of interest for attendees. Everyone is appreciative of the fine details provided by Hariprasad very clearly in common man’s language and were talking about the benefits and savings they could avail.  Several participants asked general questions that will benefit everyone. Even after the presentation, many doubts were clarified patiently, in one to one interaction. Snacks and tea were served to everyone. 

TAMA team commended and thanked Hariprasad for presenting the need of the hour seminar and felicitated him with a memento and shawl. TAMA Board and EC members Kamal Satuluru, Srinivas Uppu, Anand Akkineni, Manoj Tatikonda, Nagesh Doddaka, Sreeram Royyala, Bharath Maddineni, Suneetha Potnuru, Innaiah Yenumula, Ravi Kalli, Bharath Avirneni, Suresh Bandaru, Tiru Chillapalli, Susruth Busireddy, SaiRam Karumanchi and many others were present from beginning till the end. While proposing a vote of thanks, Vadlamudi thanked Salian, all attendees from greater Atlanta Indian Community,  TAMA team, volunteers, Sri Krishna Vilas restaurant for refreshments and Desana School Management.

Sairam elaborated about upcoming TAMA events, like hiking, volleyball, diabetes, parenting seminars and Ugadi.
