TAMA hosts table tennis tournament

Atlanta, GA, October 10, 2019: Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) conducted a Table Tennis Tournament on September 14th at Atlanta Recreation Club (ARC) in Cumming, GA. This event was sponsored by Kris Gadde from Allied Informatics Inc., and the response was overwhelming, with more than 100 participants from various categories.

The tournament was managed by Archana Athalye from Archi’s Table Tennis Club.

TAMA continues its efforts to involve all ages and genders of community in one way or the other. Sports being the apt platform, Junior’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Singles Basic, Intermediate, Advanced along with Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles were organized. The newly introduced Mixed Doubles category attracted new participants this year.

Registrations began at 10 am with a welcome note by TAMA Sports & Youth Secretary Rupendra Vemulapalli. Tournament director Archana explained all the rules and displayed the draws. All the players showed true sportsmanship by umpiring within the players and continued the games until 6 pm. Donuts were served for breakfast, pizza for lunch and tea in the evening. Water bottles were served throughout the tournament.

Tournament sponsor Kris Gadde, TAMA Leadership, ARC Management and Archana Athalye presented trophies to winners, runners and 3rd place in junior’s and women’s singles categories. TANA President Elect Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu and TAMA President Venky Gadde felicitated Tournament sponsor Kris Gadde with a shawl and flower bouquet. Everyone lauded TAMA for providing frequent platforms for competitive tournaments.

TAMA leadership Sairam Karumanchi, Srinivas Uppu, Innaiah Yenumula, Bharath Maddineni, Priya Balusu and Subbarao Maddali helped with banners and trophies setup. Venky thanked Gowri Karumanchi who helped with registration throughout the tournament, participants, umpires, sponsor, tournament director and venue management for making the event a grand success.

       3rd Place: Shourya Tutukuri

Women’s Singles:

       1st Place: Lakshmi Guttikonda

       2nd Place: Madhavi Perumpalath

       3rd Place: Vandana Modey

Men’s Singles – Basic:

        1st place: Anand Garollu

        2nd Place: Prasad Tirumareddi

Men’s Singles – Intermediate:

        1st Place: Balmurugan Pandian

        2nd Place: John Garrett 

Men’s Singles – Advance:

         1st Place: Radha Krushna Murthy

         2nd Place: Sachin Maheshwari

Men’s Doubles: 

         1st Place: Parag Marathe & Ranjit Karmarkar

         2nd Place: Amit Deshpande & Navin Kare

Mixed Doubles:

         1st Place: Radha Krushna Murthy & Sai Samhitha Kanchanpally

         2nd Place:  Sachin Maheshwari & Madhavi Perumpalath
