Nagesh Singh Appointed Next Consul General of India in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA: Nagesh Singh, a 1995 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service, will be the new Consul General of India in Atlanta. Senior diplomat and author Vikas Swarup made this announcement during his address at the event hosted in his honor by Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage (GAPI) at Ashiana Banquet Hall on Saturday.

“The Consulate is a work in progress and needs the community’s support. Please continue to give maximum support and affection to the new Consul General. ” Swarup said.

Nagesh Singh will be arriving from Delhi where he was Joint Secretary/Officer on Special Duty to the Vice President of India. Singh holds a master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics, according to his linkedin profile.

Ajit Kumar, who was the first Consul General of India in Atlanta left for Geneva last week after being appointed as ambassador and the permanent representative ofIndiato the United Nations inGeneva.

The event at Ashiana was hosted by GAPI with the support of India American Cultural Association (IACA) and Third Eye Dancers to honor Swarup, who is the bestselling author of three novels. His first novel, Q&A, was made into the critically acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire, which has won several international awards including eight Oscars.
