Atlanta,
Jan 2013: The Network of Indian Professionals (NetIP) Atlanta made
great strides in 2012 giving them the BOSCARS 2012 Most Improved
Chapter of the Year. In addition, the VP of Communications and
Logistics, Archith Seshadri, was awarded the BOSCAR Officer of the
Year. NetIP Atlanta held several events this year fulfilling the four
pillars of NetIP- professional development, cultural awareness,
political awareness and community service. The
events included a tax seminar, Holi, Independence Day and Diwali
celebrations, a Presidential Debate viewing party and community service
at St. Baldrick’s, Global SOAP Project, MedShare, Drake’s House
etc.
NETIP’s monthly networking events at top restaurants
included themes this year such as the Get Green, Get Lucky March Social
for St. Patrick’s Day, Red Carpet Affair for February social, Fall
Football Social and the Member Appreciation social. These created a
networking environment that was not only professional but also fun and
helped members get to know each other. More than that, for the first
time in NetIP Atlanta's history, a Charity is Colorblind initiative
"Protect our Children: Protect our Future" was held.
The
beneficiary of the NetIP Atlanta 2012 Charity is Colorblind initiative
was selected as Baal Dan. Baal Dan is a US based non-profit
organization dedicated to providing support children in need in India.
Beside food, clothing, and education, they also help build schools,
sanitation facilities, and more. The Baal Dan Launch Party held at the
Artmore Hotel raised over $500 to kick-off the year’s efforts. Monthly
networking events helped enhance exposure of Baal Dan to NetIP Atlanta
community. The year concluded on a high note with over $800 raised at
the Annual Gala via a matching rally and raffle prize drawings.
Overall, NetIP Atlanta raised over $3,500 through socials, fundraising
tactics and the support of its members and community.
On a
visibility standpoint, NetIP Atlanta had over 30 members attend the
21st NetIP NA Conference in Chicago, IL. Several of the board members
volunteered their time with the planning process for the conference by
finding speakers for the professional development panels. NetIP Atlanta
gained greater visibility on social media by adding a Facebook page in
addition to its existing Facebook group. The website got a new
interface allowing a cleaner and more polished view with interesting
blogs. Additionally, Twitter was used as well to maximize NetIP
Atlanta's social media presence.
Overall, NetIP Atlanta gained a
greater visibility on not only the Atlanta map but also the NetIP NA
map in 2012 and held successful and powerful events throughout the year
for their members. We look forward to seeing what they have in store
for 2013.
