Brahmakumaris Discuss Spiritual Empowerment

BY VEENA RAO

The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization, Atlanta chapter, met at the Holiday Inn, Doraville recently for a spiritual discussion on “The Call of the Time: Stress Free Living & Spiritual Empowerment”. BK Mruthyunjaya, the executive secretary of the BrahmaKumaris world headquarters in Mount Abu, India was the guest speaker.

Speaking about the importance of spiritual empowerment to overcome stress, Mruthyunjaya said, stress is omnipresent in the present times. “Stress indicates lack of awareness, truth, inner power and wisdom, which lead to mental, physical and economic diseases.”

Today, all human activities are commercialized. There is a criminalization of human consciousness. The solution is to humanize and spiritualize human behavior, he said.

He said the human mind is troubled by negative thoughts, which lead to a suspicious nature, hatred and zero tolerance. This may lead to crime and violence, as seen in the present world.

The president of India has admitted that 95% of the people are corrupt, he said. “This proves that there is something wrong with our system. We need spiritual education for the educated.”

The solution, he said, is to have a vision and mission of one’s own life. “Meditation, and spiritual empowerment are important. It is important (to tell yourself) that my purpose in coming into this world is to establish peace.”

Mruthyunjaya elucidated the gathering about Brahmakumaris’ educational resource center for values, and the importance accorded to living an empowered life through meditation, Raja Yoga and the realization of the divine.

“The Brahmakumaris have got education for a new pollution free, disease free, crime free and tax free society,” he said. “There are 800,000 Brahmakumaris to spread our vision. In 50 years, we can achieve a crime and pollution free India!”

The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) is an international non-governmental organization headquartered at Mt. Abu, Rajasthan, India with over 7000 centers in 103 countries, territories and islands. As a learning community, it currently has more than 800,000 regular students seeking to strengthen their ability to live by their own higher nature and to improve their contribution to society through spiritual education and reflective practices.

The Atlanta center of BKWSU, led by BK Hansa Patel offers courses in stress and anger management. The center is located at 325 Rack Road (Atlanta), Lawrenceville GA 30044. (T 1-770-682 2594 F 1-770-682 2594 E atlanta@bkwsu.com)
