Flower power: Celebrating nature on fabric

BY RANI SHARMA, RANEEZ BOUTIQUE

Indian culture has always celebrated nature in its lifestyle. Our culture worships elements like rain, wind, animals and trees.

The embroidery styles on fabrics vary as they move from the north to south of India, but the use of floral embroidery seems relevant in any form of fabric work.

Vintage wear cannot be complete without some flower power. The intricate rose sprays in red, gold and green are visible over ivory and black fabric. The bold rose pink embroideries in white, black and gold make the outfits breathtaking. Long jackets and pants are paired with long kurtas.

Floral embroidered dresses are created using fabrics like chanderi, velvet, silk and voile. The intricacies of the embroidery display the passion that have gone into creating the outfits. Sufi influences are also visible through the long kurtas displayed by men and floral embroidered jackets.

The feminine floral embroidered dresses collection comprised of mostly wedding lehengas are interspersed with gowns and pants with floral tops.

Zardozi, chikankari, phulkari or zari work- each type of embroidery shows an extensive use of floral motifs.

Any floral work shows off the beauty of your outfit and your personality too.
