Indian American woman found shot in the head Click here to send Gifts to India

New York, Jan 24 (IANS) An 18-year-old Indian American woman in California, found shot dead in her car, has become the latest victim of what police suspect is a gang-related crime.

Seema Singh, 18, was shot in the head and found alone in a car that had crashed into a roadside pole Monday night in the city of Palo Alto in the San Francisco Bay Area, reports said.

According to a report in Insidebayarea.com, medical personnel administered first aid to Singh, who was pronounced dead at the scene. However, upon further examination of Singh's body, police discovered that she had been shot in the head.

East Palo Alto police officer Tom Alipio said Singh was probably shot while in her car.

According to another report in CBS 5 news channel's website, this is the third homicide in eastern Palo Alto this year, after police had reported a general reduction in crime in the city.

Last Sunday, a 13-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man became victims of a fatal double shooting.

Regarding Singh's death and possible gang connections, Alipio told CBS 5, "We're not discounting it. Right now we're looking at Sunday's (shooting) as gang-related."

No arrest has been made in any of the three killings.

East Palo Alto police have announced a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of people illegally carrying a firearm or assault weapon.
