Summer Soft Chiffons

BY RANI SHARMA

Pretty chiffons are summer friendly and a must have in your wardrobe this season. Make a splash in beautiful, light weight chiffon saris at parties, functions or even at a wedding.

Here we discuss five chiffon possibilities.

1. Chiffon with flat pitta work in thread and zari. Pitta work adds immense value to a pastel or shaded sheer chiffon saree. The work could be all over the sari in jaali work or as motifs and a border. The work depends upon the range of the sari.

2. Bridal sari. This brilliant creation is embellished with pearls, kundan, cut dana, stone and zardozi work. The heavy border has silk edging, which controls the weight of the embroidery. The sari is usually in a solid, single color, and is paired with a blouse in contrast color.

3. Chiffon with broad one sided border in metallic sequence, plain silk piping with elaborate cut work motifs attached above the border.

4. The satin-chiffon. This sari has a broad border of satin in a loud, contrasting color. The border is embellished with cut dana and sequins. The blouse is tailored out of satin silk in the same color as the border. The chiffon body of the saree is usually in a dark color- blue, brown or black.

5. The half chiffon-half net sari. This sari is great for parties and summer weddings. The sheer net shows off the printed shimmer skirt underneath. The sari has an antique border, and the trim piping is embellished with pearl work. The sleeveless blouse is loaded with embroidery, and is a fusion of dramatic fabrics like brocade and shimmer.

Jewelry: Refrain from wearing heavy jewelry this season. Elegant pearls and diamonds are the way to go.

Shoes & Accessories: Wear wedge heels in the same shade as the sari. Carry a plain, solid silk purse with a brooch.

Hair & make-up: Updoes are the way to beat the heat. Go for the sheer, natural look with nude lipstick and lots of eyeliner.
